Making of The Quasidream Antimachine
My Role: Director/Producer
I served as camera operator and editor on Mina Estrada's dance film, The Quasidream Antimachine. From that experience came Making of The Quasidream Antimachine, the behind-the-scenes documentary I directed and produced alongside it. This project taught me how to love behind-the-scenes work.
Interviewing the creative forces behind the film and capturing the sets, poetry, and love poured into a piece that brought dance, film, and visual effects together revealed a whole new side of documentary storytelling to me. This BTS film was used both to promote the release of The Quasidream Antimachine and to archive its creation — pulled together in around 24 hours.

My Role: Camera Operator & Sound
Timeline: 48 hours
Unlike Making of The Quasidream Antimachine, I wasn't part of this production at all. I was brought in by the show's director, alongside another camera operator, to shoot final dress rehearsals for a promotional film the cast and crew would be excited to share on their own social media. Coming from a theater background, I felt comfortable knowing when to move in and out of scenes without disrupting rehearsal, and how to prompt actors with specific questions that helped them speak confidently and with pride about a project they cared about.
The result was a film that showcased the play, magic, and music at the heart of the show. Built in around 48 hours, from a cold start with a cast and crew I'd never worked with before.
Framed in Friendship
My Role: Producer/Director
Timeline: 2 weeks
Framed in Friendship is a gallery at the Wichita Art Museum featuring portraits of women, created entirely by female artists throughout history. The film I produced was built to accompany the gallery: a series of individual interviews with modern female artists, brought together into one compilation piece, giving voice to what it means to be a female artist, the women who mentored them, and how they now give back to their own communities.
Many of the artists featured didn't come from performance backgrounds, so conducting interviews in a way that made them feel safe, smart, and confident was one of my top priorities. I like to open by making the stakes low — with film, we can always edit, and anything they want changed or removed can be accommodated up until the final release. Transforming people into the best, smartest versions of themselves is one of my favorite parts of the job, and I'm genuinely passionate about listening to people's personal stories and learning what makes them and their work special.
The final project showcased women artists from the community, giving new context and voice to the gallery as a whole.
Bio and Headshot:
For the past year, Emery has worked as a commercial producer and freelance director in Wichita, Kansas, specializing in production organization and behind-the-scenes content that captures the passion and intention of the artists she works with.

Emery gets theater and performance, not just how to film it. While earning her Bachelor's in film, she worked on multiple dance films and as a costumer for theater and film. For her, live production is special because of how singular it is: the unique perspectives of the creative team, the performers, and the audience all coming together to share a story that exists only in that moment. Preserving that moment, and inviting others in to share it, is what she loves most.
She works fluently across the Adobe Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, and Canva, with experience producing commercial spots across multiple cut-downs and turnarounds ranging from 24 hours to one week.
She's excited to bring both sides of that — technical filmmaking skill and a lifelong passion for the Kansas City theater community — to the Digital Content Producer role at MTH.
